Work hard. If you can come in and work hard then you can make it in any industry"

Today, we say hello to Gael Irvine, Office Administrator, at SCOTGRIP® INTERNATIONAL.

Gael joined us almost 11 years ago and today she shares more about life at SCOTGRIP® INTERNATIONAL, the rewards of seeing our products manufactured in the workshop and ultimately reaching clients’ international locations.

Q: How did you get into the industry?

GI: I saw the role advertised in the Deeside Piper [the local newspaper] and I thought, I fancy that because it’s close to home.

Q: What is a typical day like for you?

GI: Mainly at my desk all day; answering phones, emails, typing, shredding, filing, whatever needs to be done... lots of different things.

Q: What do you enjoy about the work you do at SCOTGRIP® INTERNATIONAL?

GI: It’s varied. I like typing things that are going all the way across the world, knowing our products are there. I like the people I work with; we have a good laugh. I think that makes up most of it. If you get on with the people you work with then the job’s fine. A good team makes all the difference.

Q: What product are you most proud of and why?

GI: I like that regardless of the product, we aim to deliver high quality to our clients. I’m proud of the fact they are made here, in Banchory, by a multi-skilled team and they’re used all over the world.

Q: What do you find most rewarding about your work?

GI: I enjoy it all actually. It’s rewarding that our products are going abroad and we’re helping people, whether it’s big companies or smaller businesses. Even with the local council, we helped them and supplied FlexTile for residential homes... it's little things like that.

Q: What advice do you have for the next generation who aspire to work in the industry?

GI: Work hard. If you can come in and work hard then you can make it in any industry.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

GI: I used to enjoy holidays but not had many of them recently! I have two dogs and they keep me pretty busy... our favourite place to go is Loch Muick.
